About the Study

The RADIANCE CAP Study is evaluating the Paradise™ Ultrasound Renal Denervation (uRDN) System, a new approach using ultrasound energy, which may lower your blood pressure and reduce your need for blood pressure medications.

People with high blood pressure typically have overactive renal (kidney) nerves, and it has been shown that calming these overactive nerves can help reduce blood pressure. The Paradise™ uRDN system was designed to calm these overactive nerves through a one-time, minimally-invasive procedure.

A small balloon-tipped catheter is placed in the artery supplying the kidney. Ultrasound energy (sound waves) is delivered from the balloon catheter to the tissue surrounding the artery for a few seconds. The ultrasound energy generates heat to decrease the over-activity of the nerves leading to the kidney. After the arteries to the kidneys are treated, the catheter is removed leaving nothing behind.

 

Ultrasound Renal Denervation (uRDN) for Hypertension
In a recent similar study, hypertensive patients who received the ultrasound Paradise™ uRDN procedure experienced an average office systolic blood pressure (BP) reduction of 10 mm Hg after two months.1
Two months after the procedure, nearly 1 in 4 patients treated with Paradise™ uRDN achieved BP control without addition of antihypertensive medications.1

Why Participate?

The Paradise™ Ultrasound Renal Denervation (uRDN) System may lower your blood pressure and reduce your need for blood pressure medications. Participants in the RADIANCE CAP Study may also benefit from:

  • Increased medical attention through close monitoring of your blood pressure condition
  • Evaluation of your renal (kidney) anatomy, which may help uncover previously undiagnosed abnormalities or narrowing of the renal artery
  • Contributing to a study that may help other people with high blood pressure in the future

If you are eligible and choose to join the study, you will receive all study-related care at no cost. This includes the procedure, as well as any follow-up visits to your study doctor’s office. You will also be reimbursed for your time and travel to attend these study visits.

As with all clinical studies, there also may be no benefit to you and the study may be unsuccessful. Your participation is completely voluntary, and you may leave the study at any time without any effect on your future medical care.
